Hey, I'm finally writing a journal entry!
Well, since I made a stamp opposing the Spider-Man reboot, I figured it was appropriate that I give my thoughts on the actual trailer that was released. Of course, since the film isn't out yet, I can't say whether it sucks or not. I will still be seeing it in theatres, and I'll give my final thoughts on it then.
Honestly, I STILL can't believe they're rebooting the Spider-Man franchise, especially this soon after Spider-Man 3. Here's my opinion on remakes/reboots: if a studio wants to reboot a popular film series, they wait at least 10 years after the last film in the series came out. If there really needed to be a reboot of Spider-Man, they should have waited until 2017. This movie is coming out a mere FIVE years after Spider-Man 3, and it entered production only ONE year after the cancellation of Spider-Man 4. It couldn't be ANY sooner.
But now that I got that out of the way, let's talk about the movie (or rather, what we know about it so far).
The Movie's Storyline/Concept
I've had the chance to do a little research on the movie, and now I know more than I did at the time I made my stamp. They aren't just going to remake Spider-Man 1 like I thought. Although they are retelling the origin story (which irks me), they are trying to add a new story about Peter's parents, particularly that his dad was an old colleague of Dr. Connors. So NOW I understand why the film's tagline is "The Untold Story".
It seems like they're trying to include more elements of the original comics, like Spider-Man telling jokes. I guess that's a good thing. Gwen Stacy will also be his first love interest, before he meets Mary Jane, so I can see what they're going for. But I'm not fond of the inclusion of artificial web-shooters. I could make a lengthy rant about why I prefer organic webs over artificial, but that's not the point of this journal, and I'd just be wasting everyone's time. Organic webs are just my personal preference.
Cast
As for the casting decisions, I have mixed feelings. Like I said, I'll be saving my final judgment until I've actually seen the movie, but here are my thoughts as of now:
Andrew Garfield doesn't seem to fit as Peter Parker to me. But it's probably because I'm so used to Tobey Maguire. To me, Maguire was to Spider-Man what Christopher Reeve was to Superman. Yes, I'm completely biased, but right now, I don't care.
The guy playing Dr. Connors, Rhys Ifans, doesn't seem to fit, either. I wish it could have been Dylan Baker, since they spent Spider-Man 2 and 3 building up his character. This is just like the Batman series, where Billy Dee Williams played Harvey Dent in the first Tim Burton film, but never became Two-Face.
I think Martin Sheen is a good choice for Uncle Ben, and so is Denis Leary as Capt. Stacy. Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy also seems like a good choice.
Still, I have to say, I'm really going to miss J.K. Simmons as Mr. Jameson, and of course, Bruce Campbell's cameos.
The Trailer Itself
It did NOT impress me. It seems like every new action movie trailer these days copies the Dark Knight trailer. Even the music in this one sounded like the Dark Knight score.
One thing in particular that I don't like is that at the end, they show a scene where Spider-Man is falling off a building, and narrowly escapes being crushed by a large antenna. Every action movie trailer does this nowadays, where they show an action scene without music, before going to the "In theatres (date here)" part. I don't like when trailers do this, because they're just showcasing the best parts of the movie.
Overall
In closing, I'd really like to give this film a chance. Since now it's clear they aren't just going to rehash Spider-Man 1, it seems like it might be good, but I just wish it WASN'T a reboot.

Sonic TV show concept
It's been a while since I've posted anything here, so I thought I'd share a concept I've been working on.
A while back, darthformalhaut posted ideas for a Sonic movie. I'm a bit mixed on the idea of a Sonic movie myself, but some of his ideas were interesting, and it got me thinking about a new animated Sonic TV show. So if I was put in charge of producing a new Sonic show, this is what I would do:
Story
The show would be based primarily off of the game continuity, and to a degree, Sonic X. I've made it no secret that I'm a fan of Sonic X, and not so much a fan of the American cartoons (though if you like them, that's fine).
Unlike Sonic
Sonic Adventure 3 concept (UPDATED)
I've been thinking of a concept for the proposed Sonic Adventure 3.
Storyline
While I'm open to any story Sega has for an SA3, I have an idea that could really make things exciting. I'd like to see a storyline that revolves around the origin of the Chaos Emeralds and the Master Emerald. It's been said that the Master Emerald was created by "the gods" to control the power of the Chaos Emeralds, so it would seem to make sense that the same gods created the Chaos Emeralds as well. And presumably, these are the same gods that were worshiped by Knuckles' ancestors.
SA3 could potentially answer these questions:
-Who were the gods that Knuckles'

Uh, I know me saying old and all. But when I saw your stamp and read your explanation in the Artist's comments, I was wondering if the stamp itself is TOO harsh because I agree with what ya wrote in stamp's Artist's comment, thinking, "Even though I'd embrace Andrew Garfield! Spidey, I saw the same issues as TheKnightofTheVoid stated in the Anti-Spidy reboot stamp's artist comment." To me, Sony rebooting Spidy was too weird, since the McGuire ones are 5-ish approximately years old, the trilogy aren't that old enough for a reboot.
